Department of Intelligent Computer Systems
The Department of Intelligent Computer Systems has been erected at October 1, 2020 as a unit of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science of the Częstochowa University of Technology. It was established in 1996 on the initiative of professor Leszek Rutkowski, then known as the Department of Computer Engineering. The current head of the department is professor Robert Cierniak.
The Department is the leading institution in Poland and well-known in the world in subject of the scientific research concerning computational intelligent systems, and soft computing methods, especially neural networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary algorithms and decision-making systems as well as their application in industry and medicine. The Department is also the seat of the Polish Neural Network Society (PTSN). The Department cooperates with many universities and research centres in Poland and other countries, including USA and Japan.
As part of their didactic work, employees of the Department conduct classes in the field of broadly understood Computer Science in all specializations of Computer Science and Mechatronics.
